At the South Central Michigan Chapter, we recognize that youth volunteers offer their own perspective to projects and as such we would like to get you involved in a program geared specifically for young people, Youth Corps.

What is Youth Corps?

...Foremost, it is an opportunity for Jackson and Hillsdale youth, aged 16-24 to serve the community through the mission of the American Red Cross. There are many possible projects volunteers are a part of, including: blood drives, fundraising events, and kids camp, just to name a few. As a group we hold regular meetings to plan our own service projects or to exchange information about joining other projects. 

...It is FUN! We don't want volunteering to be just more work, so we do are best to make it fun fun fun. Volunteering is always more fun when you can do it with friends. Youth Corps brings together young people from all of Jackson and Hillsdale Counties to share their passion for service and have a good time doing it. We also like to have social events such as pizza parties and movie nights to get to know one another.

...It is Valuable! The benefits of being a Youth Corps member are endless. Our members are able to take part in Red Cross training and certification programs to enhance their skills. Did we mention those are free after completing 15 hours of service? Also, members gain leadership and career prep experience in project management, marketing, public relations, fundraising, etc. These skills, combined with committed community service will go a long way in making  yoru resume stand out to college admissions or employers. Also available to Corps members are scholarship and mentoring opportunites.

...It Makes a Difference! Whether hosting blood drives, planning kids camp or helping with the Disaster Action Team, Youth Corps members are getting busy helping to enhance and save lives. Is there really a more important reason to join?
