May 1, 2006 --
May 1, 2006 – The American Red Cross announces a fundraising event, Avenue of the Arts. Concrete birdbaths have been sponsored by local businesses and will be decorated by local artists. The sponsors are not only supporting a worthwhile cause they also receive recognition on the birdbath and in the program guidebook along with a picture of their birdbath, design description and artist’s name. Artists are donating their time and talents to design and paint the birdbaths.
Birdbaths will appear in local business windows in downtown Jackson the first week of June and will remain at their designated location until September 22, 2006. An auction event will be held at Daryl’s Downtown Restaurant beginning at 6:00 p.m. on the evening of September 22 with a great assortment of hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. The birdbaths will be auctioned to the highest bidder later that evening. A silent auction will also be held that evening featuring art items from the local community.
